New Decade, Year, Semester!

Sorry about my absence in blogging. Last semester just got really busy for me. I ended up having all A’s and two B’s in my all my courses. I was really shooting for all A’s but i can’t complain. This semester I ended up taking Anatomy 2, Psy 200, and Physics 2. And online I am taking American Lit and Computer Science. This semester is already seeming to be busy by first two days of school. I hope it slacks up a little bit.

Some upcoming events for me this weekend is a conference in Gatlinburg, TN. A good group of students of hte BCM here at northeast will work with an evangelist Scott Dawson out of Birmingham. I will keep you guys updated. Thanks have a good week!

Somewhere In Between

Wow this fall semester has turned out really busy for me. With having school work to do, and all the extracurricular activities going on too. Well looks like its time for me to fill you guys in on what has been going on in my life, since its been about twenty days since my last post. Well since my last post I had this massive physics test I was stressing about. I actually did not do too bad, but i should have done better. The next weekend after the leadership retreat me and a few BCM friends volunteered to assist the youth pastor at my church with an awesome fall retreat at camp to know Him. I am glad we did this because we finally have a connection from older college students at northeast to some youth.

The next weekend some of my friends from Tuscaloosa came back home and we hung out and carved pumpkins. We also had Miss Northeast pageant the next day, which ended up being really competitive with a lot of beautiful young ladies. Me and a SGA representative, Matt, were the hosts for the judges, and they were pretty interesting and cool.

Life’s been pretty busy, but more things are coming up. Some events that are coming up are the Bluegrass Festival, which is this weekend at Saturday starting at 1PM, Fall Fling week is the last week of October and will be followed by a 5k run or walk on the 31st.

Just Met My Blogging Friend!

I just met my blogging buddy in person for the first time! She seems to be pretty cool! I know that she loved Grey’s Anatomy and wants to be a medical major, but she is in business. She is funny, crazy… I look forward to getting to know her throughout the school year.

I won my election and got SGA Sophomore Representative, but I think i may be a Treasurer instead. I don’t know yet, ha. It’s very confusing right now.

Physics is starting to kick my tail, I just had to take a 40/100 on a homework. We have a test next Tuesday, I don’t know how I will manage that. We will see!

This weekend we have a leadership retreat, pretty excited about it too! The people that are going are SGA, PTK, SKD, and MAT officers. It will be a good experience to get to know the officers of the other clubs.

Physics outcome and SGA!

Hey guys! Sorry for the delay in updates, I just have been caught up with everything going on. Life’s been great so far, I made a B on my physics exam last week! I was surprised about it, but satisfied too. I am running for SGA Sophomore representative, so if you are ever at the campus tomorrow, cast me a vote please! Thanks!

Tomorrow is Baptist Campus Ministries’ second meeting! Its going to be at Noon in room 103 in the Annex building or the bookstore building. Its a great time to grab a free lunch and fellowship and get a message from our campus pastor. If you have any questions about it just send me an email and ill be glad to answer them for you!

I got a test on a few short stories and vocabulary words for English 102 this Thursday, not looking forward to it yet. This weekend we are going to a Honors in Action event at Birmingham Southern College, its for Phi Theta Kappa. I am pretty excited about it, well except for the fact that we leave 7 in the morning, but we get will get back around four though .

Busy, Busy, Busy..

Semester has started off great and busy! I have a test in Thursday in my Physics class, I am really nervous about. I hope it ends up being easier than expected. I have finally made the decision to run for SGA representative for the Sophomore class. So if you attend NACC, vote for me! There is some competition this year, so wish me luck! I got my business stats class tomorrow, still doing the homework for it too.. So ill have to post again later. Have a good week!

I am glad the tide pulled out a win saturday night. I was thinking it would be a nasty game, but we came through. Here is a story i found on AL.com, an interview with Nick Saban:

ATLANTA — The Alabama football team, as usual, watched a movie the night before stepping into the ring for the first time this season.
It was a boxing movie.

“A great movie,” Nick Saban said.

Cinderella Man.

Thus inspired, Alabama went out and learned a great lesson. Like prize fighters, no two football teams are alike. If the 2009 Alabama team established anything in its debut Saturday night, it’s this: It’s not the 2008 team. Not yet. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
You can become the heavyweight champion of the world by floating like a butterfly or stinging like a bee, by knocking the other guy out early or beating him on points at the end.

It just doesn’t matter — as long as you land enough punches.

The 2009 Alabama football team landed more than enough to beat Virginia Tech 34-24 in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff and put itself in the same position as the 2008 team after one game.

With one win in the books and the promise of a lot more to come.

There was evidence aplenty Saturday night that this is a new team in crimson and white. For a while, it wasn’t good news.

Alabama won the toss. Instead of taking the ball, shoving it down Virginia Tech’s gullet, making the Hokies eat it and like it — as last year’s team would’ve — Alabama deferred.

The first time Alabama touched the ball, Alabama lined up in that fad of a formation known as the Wildcat. Or, in this case, the Wild Elephant. Running back Mark Ingram served as triggerman.

Imagine what guys like Antoine Caldwell were thinking.

Especially when a snap or two in that set went awry amid a flurry of self-inflicted wounds.

“In the first half,” Saban said, “we were not only punching them, we were punching ourselves.”

Last year’s Alabama team pulled no punches. It didn’t line up in any kind of Wild Thing because it didn’t have to. Last year’s team didn’t do much deferring or deceiving. It told the opponent what it was going to do, and did it.

Rudely and routinely.

That was then. Now, on the first play of the fourth quarter, one point shy on the scoreboard and one yard short of a first down, Alabama politely called a play-action pass.

Julio Jones, no doubt stunned by this turn of events, dropped it.

It was at that point that Alabama stopped fooling around.

For the remainder of the fourth quarter, with the exception of one lost series by the kick return team and the defense, Alabama started treating Virginia Tech like its own personal punching bag.

Greg McElroy started throwing like John Parker Wilson. Ingram started running like Glen Coffee. The offensive line started opening holes like …

Wait a minute. Let’s not get carried away.

Yet.

Unlike Clemson, last year’s opening sparring partner, Virginia Tech didn’t have to be carried out of the ring on a stretcher.

But Tech’s legs did look a little wobbly at the final bell.

So it took a little longer, against a stronger opponent, to take the upper hand, but the 2009 Alabama football team did something the 2008 team didn’t.

Even if just for one game, this team overcame adversity and finished strong. See Cinderella Man.

“I think we showed some of that character,” Saban said.

If this team makes as much progress from the first game to the last as it made from the first quarter to the final whistle, it just might play its final game in Pasadena – and be the last team standing.

Homework…. and Jeff State..

Homework is piling up for me now, especially in physics. I finally finished today the homework that was assigned last week. All the problems take a long time and i am impatient when it comes to thinking and trying to figure out the answer. It looks like it will difficult class to overcome, but I do not like to give up. I am right now loving my english teacher she is great, we read a few short stories in there, but she is easy going and is cool. My biology class started today online, I still don’t know how i am going to manage that. I’ll have to figure something out.

The deadline for the application for Jefferson State’s PTA program is this Friday, so i am trying to get all of that organized and sent in. I am still working on my essay for it. I hope i get in, I really need this. I guess ill find out in November.

This past weekend was awesome! My friends from NACC last year that moved off came back and I got to see a few of them and hang out with them. I missed them very much, this year is very different without them. Some may be coming back this weekend, too . My group that went to Guatemala also gave our mission report this past Sunday. It went great, I was wishing I was still there at the orphanage. I will try to get my sideshow on here so you guys can view it.

This weekend is when football season starts I am really excited about Alabama!

First two days of school!

Wow! That is the words I can describe my first two days of classes. Monday I started my day off with Mr Fricks’ Leadership development class, and it warmed my brain up to a lot of thinking! He had a twenty dollar bill up there and tried to get us to tell him what good is it doing. My second and last class was Business Stats, we had a few notes but not much. I am glad i have a lot of my friends in both classes. Today I had Physics and English 102. MY physics teacher was pretty cool and I learned a good bit today. I got to go to English and write a page describing myself and we got to get out early. I had at least 5 friends or more in each so it was great! I ended up seeing a lot of new freshmen and some of them I knew and most I did not! I hope to have met a lot of new people by the end of the semester, I hope… No real homework yet, just some reading, and pepping for this CPR 1 class this Saturday. Tomorrow will be my second day of classes for Monday and Tuesday classes.

I finally finished up with my finals monday last week and tuesday I left for a quick vacation on a mission trip to Guatemala! I got back this past Monday this week pretty late and have been sleeping trying to catch up with all the rest i missed out on.

I just finished registering for classes at NACC and i am still waiting on a approval from Wallace for HIT 115. At NACC i registered for Physics, Elementary Stats, CPR 1, Humanities Forum, and Biology 103. Physics, Hum, and Elem. Stats are at the campus and the rest of them are online.

I hope this semester ends up being a less difficult than the preview one. Last semester i took Anatomy 1 and 2, Med Terminology, PSY Human Growth and development, and Ethics. I ended up with 3 A’s a B and a C. I am regreting that C, though.

The Fall semester at northeast is always so much fun, there are new faces and always cool events going on. Friday the 28th of August there is a Welcome back or Welcome party at the quad from 7pm until 11pm. It’s always fun to meet new people or get back together with old acquaintances.
